Look at Me Now!

When looking back to something I wrote two and a half years ago I have found that I have not changed much in my philosophy of learning and teaching. I still hold a lot of the same opinions, beliefs, and goals about myself, my career, and my family. Though my life has changed in some ways, I have gotten married, lost some hair, and learned a few new technologies, my lifestyle and belief about the importance of technology in the classroom has not changed at all!
One of my goals has always been to improve everyday as a teacher and continue to grow as a professional. I feel that I have reached this goal over the past few years and hope for continuous growth as a teacher and professional. By working my way through the MAET program I have learned a lot about myself, how to use certain technologies in my classroom, and how to adapt to a changing world. With technology constantly changing and improving in education I am constantly changing the way I present, create, and evaluate my classes.
While continuing to teach at Kalkaska High School (bleeding blue and white), I have pushed my students to continue to become life-long learners. Whether it is in the classroom, at the workplace, or on the athletic field, I want my students to be the best they can be and to never settle for average or use the term "good enough." By gaining my masters from MSU I have proven to my students that hard work, persistence, and patience pays off. I have also brought many new ideas, software packages, and lessons that use technology to help my peers, our administration, and most importantly my students.
By taking what I have learned throughout my time in the MAET program, my professional experiences, and my undergraduate studies, I feel that I have become a better teacher, coworker, friend, family member, and professional. I have created new and unique lessons that have improved student learning, made the classroom more enjoyable, and engaged larger numbers of students than ever before. Being a young teacher in a small district, I am continuing to make strides, constantly improving, and helping prepare my students for an ever-changing future that they all must face.
