CEP 810-Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Instructor: Carolyn McCarthy
Summer 2009
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
CEP 810 is a course that focuses on effective use of technology in education and learning issues related to technology use. The majority of our time was spent using programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in ways that would benefit us in our classrooms. One major project was working with five others in the course to create a presentation about how technology is used to benefit children with special needs. I researched, conducted interviews, and put together many parts for this project. Our topic was The Parent Perspective and Advantages to Using Technology for all and it can be found as a PDF document below. I also created a Word document analyzing a technology innovation and its impact on the classroom. This was done on Moodle, something I currently use in my Computer Applications classes still today and is labeled Moodle below.

CEP 811-Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education
Instructor: Melissa White
Summer 2009
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
One of the major focuses of CEP 811 is the creation of our StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional Resource). Throughout the course we spent a lot of time viewing different StAIRs and eventually creating our own. My StAIR (not all of the links work properly on SlideShare) was created to help students determine elasticity of demand in Economics and whether a good they may demand is elastic or inelastic. This entire unit on elasticity used to take me almost a week to teach but by using the StAIR, I have been able to fix an instructional problem I had when teaching Economics. Time was also spent evaluating, developing, and eventually producing a WebQuest that could be used in our classrooms. My WebQuest deals with The New Deal and I used this for two years in my American History classes I used to teach. The WebQuest has helped me promote learning in my classroom through a different medium while my students have enjoyed some independent study being a historian on their own.

CEP 812-Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice
Instructor: Melissa White
Spring 2010
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
In CEP 812 one of the larger assignments was to create a Special Interest Group presentation on a topic selected by my group. Our group chose to do research on the iPad and how it impacts education. My role was the role of the student and the impact the iPad has on students of different ages and abilities. While doing this research we also created annotated bibliographies of the resources we used. As a whole our group used Google Docs to communicate and Wikispaces to post our project in its entirety. Using these two were new experiences for me but very beneficial for me to use and implement into my own classroom. I also was able to create a personal technology plan using Google Sites during this course. This was my first true experience using Google Sites and I have learned a lot since this time but looking back on my work, I realize how technology is constantly changing and I am constantly changing the way I teach my classes. If I were to redo this assignment I know it would be completely different today but this is a good representation of where I stood in my career as a teacher and learner.

CEP 820-Teaching K-12 Students Online
Instructor: Laeeq Khan
Summer 2010
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
By using new technologies, I learned how teachers and students can broadcast their ideas and information for purposes of communication and collaboration. The focus of this course was to create a course module that we could use in our own setting. I used Moodle to create a course management system that I could use in my Computer Applications class. The system I created I have used over the past three years and my students have become very accustomed and comfortable with its layout and how it functions as a guide to what we do in class. This phenomenal tool is something I have continued to build on and use on a daily basis throughout the school year. Also, to start the class we had to create a one minute screencast introducing our self to the class. My screencast shows where I live, what I teach, where I'm at the time in the masters program, what I coach, and a few tidbits about my life. And lastly we had to develop what was called a Developer's Notebook where we were to discuss our online teaching development, philosophy, and best practices. My Developer's Notebook showcases five different entries. One was about a unit I developed, another discussed different lessons for my Computer Apps. course, the use of Moodle, a rubric I created for a Computer Apps. project, and a wrap-up on the course.

CEP 822-Approaches to Educational Research
Instructor: David E. Wong
Summer 2010
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
Developing a research proposal was a tough task but something I learned from tremendously. While researching learned helplessness and its impact on testing I found that test design does play a role but there are many other factors involved in the fact that students sometimes just give up on tests. This document demonstrates how I was able to learn from the research and work of others in the field of education. The compilation of research, time, and effort helped me learn from the work of others. Also, I have linked to a video showing the online search strategies I used to put together the document below. Using Camtasia, I was able to create a record of my online searching thoughts and behavior. Camtasia allowed me to create a video and audio record of my search. This was a very efficient and effective tool that I continue to use when recording how to do an activity for my students in my classroom.

CEP 800-Learning in School and Other Settings
Instructor: Sandra Sawaya and Cary Roseth
Spring 2011
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
In CEP 800 I created a digital story using Windows Movie Maker, about a lesson I completed in my 10th grade Economics class. Discussing different theories of learning, I completed a study using this class to test out a new lesson and theory of teaching known as social constructivism where i acted as a facilitator and guide to my students learning. Another important assignment was the evaluation of a technology that we would use in our classroom. I chose to evaluate bubbl.us, a tool I had used a few times in the past and found success with but I wanted to do more research on what was being learned when I used this tool and how was learning taking place. I found that this program is very easy to use for myself and my students and was a tool that enhances student learning in my high school classes. Using Audacity, I interviewed a student to try to understand her understanding, if that makes sense. The goal was to figure out how my students learn in my classes and what they have learned. Throughout the interview you can see that my student struggles with explaining and elaborating with a few questions but she does have a good understanding of some of the terminology and ideas we have discussed about democracy in my Civics class.

CEP 815-Technology and Leadership
Instructor: Nicholas J. Sheltrown
Summer 2011
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
Throughout this course we looked how technology changes and impacts teaching, learning, leadership, and management. Using the idea of "Who's Got the Monkey" and "How to Get the Monkey Off of Your Back" I created a Prezi showing this important leadership idea of passing the problem from one individual to the next. We all have the "Monkey on our Back" but what do we do with that Monkey? Pass it on to someone else! What do they do? Either pass it on or save it for later. This is a major issue for any leader and is something that must be controlled. Here I use Prezi to place this idea in a brief presentation for the viewing of others. Now when viewing technology use in the classroom, I discussed in the paper below how teachers must adapt to new technologies in order to ensure the success of their students. Using an article by "The Argument," by John Hattie, I talked about how teachers need to be active learners like their students should and always analyze and change their methods to create active learning for our students. Also discussed are different factors influencing student achievement and some opportunities and challenges that go along with them.

TE 846-Accomodating Differences in Literacy Learners
Instructor: Randy Nevins Stanulis and Laurel Jensen Disney
Summer 2011
3 Credits 3.5/4.0
Continually learning about developmental processes, instructional practices, and assessment principles that contribute to the learning of reading and writing were reinforced throughout this course. The entire course was based around completing two case studies on two students and working on developing their reading and writing skills while also assessing their abilities all while instructing them in reading and writing. I chose a female who was going to be a sophomore in high school and a male who was going to be a senior. I spent countless hours developing lessons, instructing, and assessing their abilities in reading and writing. Attached below is my final Case Study report on Cam, my soon to be senior student. I also created a lesson using a graphic organizer in one of my classes. I used bubbl.us to help students understand the difference between supply and demand. I discuss the pro's and con's to the program and how it impacted my students as a review mechanism to help them prepare for an upcoming unit test. This not only helped them prepare for the test but also was a guide to starting their paper on microeconomics, supply, demand, and elasticity.

CEP 813-Electronic Portfolios for Teaching and Learning
Instructor: Catalina Ji Young Park and W. Patrick Dickson
Spring 2012
3 Credits 4.0/4.0
Being my first experience in creating an online portfolio to showcase myself I truly learned a lot about who I am as an educator. I took this portfolio idea and not only used it for myself but also had my Computer Apps. II students develop their own portfolio about themselves. I was proud to showcase what they have done and some of the projects I have created for them. This was a great way for me to demonstrate my ideas and lesson plans for my students and also to showcase what my students can do. I also created other pages showcasing my Masters Coursework, My Vision for using portfolios in my classroom, a Window to my Classroom, My Resume, a List of References and their letters of recommendation, and a Welcome to my Classroom page. All of these pages demonstrate who I am as a teacher and what my plans are in using portfolios in my classroom.
